Santa Barbara Riders Motorcycle Riding Club

Golf ride?  Well what we have is five of my fellow Santa Barbara riders and three of my long time golf friends on a journey to Blacklake Golf Course in Nipomo '11

Blacklake Golf Course in Nipomo for a day of golf in support of Mike and Billy for their 1stTee fund raiser for central coast youth golf. I have participated in this tournament for several years, always a good time for a great cause. Getting youth involved in positive activities is nothing but a good thing. The group joining me will be Jake, Jerry, and Vince we have played in a lot of these fundraiser tournaments. Lately the Santa Barbara Rider Golfers have taken to the links with a vengeance and a passion as deep as our passion to ride. It's a good thing we ride better then we play golf, but we have just as much fun. Actually these guys know their way around a golf course pretty well. Santa Barbara Riders was represented by Larry, Henry, Keith, and Mike the best we have.

The Shamble format is fun. Adding to the intrigue would be all par 5's have an 8" cup, par 4 have two cups, and the par 3's have three cups. Plus we had many features that add to the fun. In this tournament we have a winner(as usual) in this case the last place team is rewarded and mediocre team is really rewarded, so although you try to win there are other ways to really win. This gets better as the day rolls on; everyone seems to be having a great time. Following the round of golf and the putting contest everyone gathers in the banquet hall for our meal and the raffle. This is where this event really takes off. Belinda and Linda joined our group for the post golf festivities.

As I mentioned this is where this gets good and the mediocre is the real winner. So low and behold the Santa Barbara Rider group wins the mediocre award, they are invited back for next year. Vince wins a night stay at Avila Beach Resort plus golf, Jerry wins the putting contest, Jakes a winner. I won a night at Avila and golf. Our two groups did quite well. What a great day for the 1st Tee foundation. I certainly enjoy being able to do good for the community, especially when it evolves the activities that I am passionate about. I believe that we all feel the same when it comes to doing good deeds for our community. And this was one of those times. We certainly had a great day.
